08/12/00 - Protecting New Zealand's Infrastructure from Cyber Threats
This report discusses the extent of protection of New Zealand's critical infrastructure from information-related threats, such as are posed by unauthorised access to computer systems, viruses and damage to telecommunications links. A recommended strategy to bring levels of protection in line with international practice is presented.


11/02/01 - Media Release
State Services Minister Trevor Mallard has ordered a programme of work to improve protection for New Zealand's critical infrastructure from cyber-crime and other IT-based threats such as computer "hacking" and viruses.


11/06/01 - Towards a Centre for Critical Infrastructure Protection
This report follows from the previous NIIP report on protection of critical infrastructure from cyber-threats, written in December 2000. As recommended in that report, officials have investigated setting up a centre for critical infrastructure protection in New Zealand. This report is the result.


07/08/01 - Media Release
The Government will establish a new unit dedicated to providing advice and support to protect New Zealand's critical infrastructure from cyber-threats.


13/08/01 - Cabinet Paper
This paper proposes that Cabinet agree to set up a Centre for Critical Infrastructure Protection (CCIP) within the Government Communication Security Bureau (GCSB) to improve the protection of critical national infrastructure and Government departments against information-borne threats, or cyber-threats.
