Keystroke Logging
  • A method used to intercept each keystroke a user types on the keyboard by means of a small hardware device of program for the purposes of recovering passwords or data.

Logic Bomb
  • Resident computer programme triggering an unauthorised act when particular states of an information and communications system are realised, such as a point in time.

Malicious Applets
  • Small application programs automatically downloaded and executed that perform an unauthorised function on an information and communications system for the purposes of exploiting that system.

Malicious Code
  • Unauthorised computer code designed to destroy or damage data, gather and exfiltrate data, covertly use computer resources or otherwise disrupt operations.

Malicious Hardware
  • Hardware capable of performing an unauthorised function on an information and communications system for the purposes of exploiting that system.

Malware
  • A generic term covering a range of software programs, and types of programs designed to attack, degrade, or prevent the intended use of Information Communications Technology.

Man-in-the-middle Attack
  • An attack in which an attacker inserts themselves between two parties without the knowledge of either perty. The attacker can then read, insert, or modify messages between the two parties.

Masquerading
  • A form of impersonation. An attack in which an attacker pretends to be someone else.
