Utilities Sector
  • The infrastructure sector comprising organisations responsible for providing and managing utilities, such as: water, electricity, petroleum, oil and gas.

Virus
  • A self-replicating program that spreads by inserting copies of itself into other executable code or documents.

VoIP
  • Voice over Internet Protocol. A service that enables the use of the Internet as the transmission medium for telephone calls.

VPN
  • Virtual Private Network. A way of using a public network (typically the Internet) to link two sites of an organisation.

Vulnerability
  • Suseptibility to a hazard or threat. An inherent weakness.

Worm
  • A self-replicating program that is self-contained and does not need to be part of another program to propagate itself.

Zero Day
  • An exploit that takes advantage of a vulnerability as or before it becomes publicly known.

Zombie
  • A computer that has been infected with a Trojan enabling control by an external party.
